7?*e tax payor* o* Capo May City rocoirod Uair annual bills, Monday. ajYl there is conalderablo complali.. over the hlshneas of the asseasments, so much ao that the collector and as aeaaor are being plied with qnoxtlon* almost dally. The collector cannot be blamed aa he nothing to do with the flxlnx of the amount of taxes. The iTsinr Is coming In tor some complaint, but be, too. is a victim of circumstances. Assessor Eldredgt was assisted this year In making his aaaeesznent by' T. Sidney Townsend and Samuel F. ESdi-edge, and be declares that he Is nos to blame for the highness, as he Is compelled to raise budget for city expenses, the county iax. the State School tax. and In doing this has bad to bunt bit of property which could be found. The city's budget provides for *81.SXJ?, an Increase over last year of Last year the Coubty Board of Taxation took off *27S;000 lb valas, or *5.060 In actual tax. The earn of *1400 la school tax had to be raked over the amount called l ordinance. The d 25 per cent. . and the Bute School tax was increased SO per cent, over
last year.
A GOOD TlfcKET. There seems to be widespread and almost universal satisfaction among Republicans over the make-up of their county ticket this Fall. Senator Hand has not only accomplished much tor his - county during the past three years, but he has ao exercised the responsibilities of the leadership to which the people called him that factional feeling. Inter-party bitterness and wlthln-lhe-Une* controversy has almost entirely disap-
peared.
Christopher Hand, the nominee for Assembly, has for years been one pf popular conductors In the employ of the Reading R. R., and has also had private business Interests the seashore which gives him a knowledge of the sort of legislation will best advance the diversified interests of his native county. A. Carlton Hildreth, the nominee tor County Clerk, has long been recognized as a man of more than ordinary abllltyj and his long experience the D. S'. Government employ s assuranceof his fitness for responsibility which goes with the County Clerk's office.

Vho knows Carl Hildreth will for one minute doubt that under his administration the county records will be cared for with accuracy, care and Intelligence, and his personal affability gives assurance of courteous treatment to all who have business at the Clerk's office, maintaining In every way the high standard set by
his predecessors In the office.
George H. Reeves, the nominee for Coroner, has a reputation second
In the county, and will be elected by a tremendous majority, good ticket, and a winning one.
WHY NOT STOP HEREt A New Boat Line From Philadelphia to Atlantic City. In a recent Issue of the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin It was anced that a line* of steamers would commence operations by Noember 15th, between Philadelphia and Atlantic .City. The Steamer Concho" will make threg tripe eecb week. Why not have the line make landing at Cape May? During the summer season a Urge amount of travel could be secured and there Is doubt the new line could ae enough freight to pay them to land at Cape May. Some few years ago. Captain George Douglass and a few other'enterprising young men endeavored to organize a stock compkuy to operate a line of freight steamers between Cape May and Philadelphia. For some reason the line did not receive proper support and was never started. NoW'Is'the chance for the people of Cape May to have a steamboat line.
