[SENATOR HAND ARRESTS RIVAL He accuses Slaughter of Distributing Defamatory Circular* State Senator Robert E. Hand, caused the arrest of his Democratic opponent, Evans G. Slaughter. of Wildwood, on Monday. Printed circulars bearing a cartoon of Senator Hand and a printed statement attacking his political record and methods were widely circulated. With them wore appeals for votes for

Slaughter.

Under the act of April 16. 1404, which makes it a rolsdemanor to dtetri but circulars attacking candidates unless they bear the name of the person responsible therefor. Senator Hand swore out s warrant before Joseph B. Hughes, Justice of Peace of this City, for the arrest of Slaughter. The candidate wrlved a hearing, and en tered 4300 bail to answer. Now that the election la over the matter will probably end. The circulars and cartoons "got on Bob's nerve." and he had Prosecutor Lloyd prepare the oom plaint, and to sure of the arrest, Charles L. Brownmiller was deputised as constable to serve the warrant. DrJ.M.Slaughter, farther of Evans G-. became the bondsman before a Wildwood Justice of the Peace.
