LET THE PEOPLE RULE. It is the glory and boast of the American People, that they are their own Sovereigns. Governmental Tyranny and aristocracy find, in America an uncongenial soil and Cli mate, and until a Mighty change is Wrought, can never flourish. The people having learned their ability to govern, and having tasted the sweets of liberty and in dependence, wo-- the inspiring tyrant whose misguided judgement, and ambi tious hear prompts him to usurp the fight which tho people claim to themselves a Tyrant at heart may while occupying an official position given him by the suffrages of the people, tyranize to a very limited extent, and for a very limited time but the expiration of his term of office, is the farthest bounds of his surpation: and the weight of the ballot box triffling throught it may seem to the eye is sure to crush him politically to oblivion and so well understoof is this principle of our government that men with fool hardiness equal to such an undertaking, are scarcely to be found, among those whose mental ability would raise them to post of honor and trust. the people in their associated, political capacity, under standing their right and power, under an exerruling Providence will submit to no one man or aristocratic usurpation, Having in their heads the intellect and intelligence in their hands the power--the ballot --tha glorious little slip of paper insigificant though it may seem they bid defiance to the power of man. there are times when those who are an acquainted with the practical working of a government like ours, might suppose the people were eneqnul In the task of Srlf- " government.
