AMDSEIENT AT THE WINDSOR: GHOSTS AND TBIAl MARRIAGE J Costnned Employees Celebrate \ Chefs Birthday and Make ; Merry Evening. Lj The Windsor gave iguana' rfswe * Thursday evening and the course of < events was much enlivened by the - appearance of » gaily costumed group ' of unexpected visitors, who immediately .became the centre of attraction. Tney proved to be the employes of the house who sought the opportunity of | expressing their appreciation of one of their number, the chef, R. D. Jones, who is also proprietor of ths Crescent Cafe, Philadelphia, and who had been < ■ discovered in the act of passing unheralded. his forty-second birthday. He has been faithful to the bouse and courteous to all the employes throughout the season, hence all of this, for ♦but kind are scarce and have to be celebrated, when found. ; The party danced an Irish Reel and other things and did them well. Then came a mock wedding, two of the waitresses being • principals,, one costumed as a m&h and they promised to live together faithfully for two weeks, en example of trial marriage, which is the most up-to-date way, and the Windsor wants nothing1 not strict! v up to the minute. A waitress properly appareled for the purpose performed the ceremony and did Jit with due appreciation of the solemnity of the occasion. After all of this the party adjournd to a room prepared for the purpose and partook of the refreshments provided. You might call it a wedding breakfast. The affair closed with the presentation of a purse to the 42 year old chef, which according to all the traditions should have contained a plonk for ever* year, out whether it did or not, that's another story. And the dance still continued. THE WINDSOR ' The Windsor has had a very successful season and has been very carefully and acceptably managed. There has been a very pleasant contingent of guests, many of them staying a. large part of the season and they have enjoyed every minute of their sojourn. There are many people who think that a Iwtel or any institution does not require much thought ;or anxiety. They see everything moving smoothly every day and get an impmsion that it simply runs itself. So many men or ■women to bo employed, each to perform certain functions and, "that's all." The "boas" may go off fishinR if he likes, and the machine will go along just the same. There never was a greater mistaae. Whenever you see a great or small business prospering and running smoothly, it is generallydue tc the untiring and sleepless effort •of one man or a very fetf . den of oare.Bkill and planning 4a or. him or them. The Windsor is an illustration of this fact and it is due to the unsparing application of energy, skill and thought by Proprietor H. J. Oreswell and Mrs. Creswell that the very gratifying success of the season has been attained. -*>th have been on duty night and day to insure the comfort of guests and the proper care of the house. The table has been excellent all the season and nothing has been omitted which could be supplied of seasonable foods. Music lias enlivened .the dinner and Jsupper hour in the dining room most of the season and this is an innovation at the Windsor and a very acceptable one. It is to be hoped that Mr. and Mrs. Creswell will continue in charge there and then their success may increase. BASE BALL AT CAPE MAY With the Yacht Club and the Golf Olub holding their biggest events of the season the local ball teams played before one of the largest crowds this season. The game was full of interest and-tfee-Pld team, which in -former year represented this resort, put up a bunch cf ball playing which surprised everyone. The lineup .
