Bennett ( DENN1SVILLE 1 Friends and relatives throughout the county will be shocked to hear of the ( sodden death on Monday of Enoch 1 James near his home at Ashland, Dli- ' nols. Mr. James was born in Dennis- 1 Ville in 1821, went west about 1850, - and was su ccesafu! at farming. He married Maria, oldest daughter of the late Smith Townaend, of Goshen, and the widow, two sons and two daughters survive him. He was a lovable, (•Title man of exemplary temperate habits, and strictest integrity. Good health crowned his years with peace c and plenty Mr. James was struck by a train but details were not received at this writing. He was a famous pedestrian, bad walked 200 miles during the harvest season, bis farm being located several miles from his home, and when visiting Dennisville, he thought it an easy task to walk to the ' Court House. She recently underwent ao operation from which she is now recuperating. f Joseph St't?s has given out the contract to William Cummings and Son for the erection of a fine cottage on the lot on Broadway, adjoining his present home. It is to be a thoroughly modern structure, 'fitted throughout with gal and^the plumbing fixtures are to be especially fine. Operations have already been begun on the work. Mrs. Hattie Smith returned Saturday from a two weeks visit with friends in Philadelphia. George Taylor and family have closed their Broadway cottage and . gone to Millville for the winter he having be en transferred from the Cape May the Miijyille branch of the West Jersey and Seashore Railroad. COURT HOUSE Harry Tyler spent a part of last week with friends at Tuckahoe. Jesse D Ludlam. Jr.. was visiting his grandparents at South Dennis, one day last week. Prof. F. W. James was transacting business here last Saturday afternoon. John L. Burk. of Philadelphia, was transacting business at the office of the County Clerk last Friday morning. Since the September term of court tbe county jail has been cleared of a number of the prisoners. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Springer, of are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Alexander R. Springer. J. Fithian Tatem, Baq.. of Philadelphia, was looking after real estate matters here recently. Dr. John S. Douglass was visiting friends at Tuckahoe last week. Howard Townsend was in town last week calling upon friends A. E. Holmes and sister Frances, of Dennisville. were calling on friends one day last week. A. R. Springer has been using his gasoline engine for the purpose of sawwood.
