CAPE MAY 4 , LEEDS CLUB 1 Saturday's game was a surprise to the visitors and almost as great to \ many ' local fans. The lacals dug up tomahawks for fair, took ;tbelr rabbit , feet along and before 'a throng of fans, took their clubs in hand and the Leeds boys were the victims. Sbultz, McNichol'8 pet pitcher, who has won so many bard fought catties, was swatted for nine hits, which is far more than any other aggregation ( has ever succeeded in getting off him. < It took six innings for the local Blug- ; gers to find him enough to score but i then five hits were bunched, one of ( which was Weinberg's two bagger, j Oorkran, Gurry and Machado went , nome, the Cuban lad from first base aDd had the stocky, hard hitting 1 catcher several pounds less avoirdupois ; he would have made third easily. : Corkran, Curry, L. Machado and Jefferson, each got two of the nine hits ; and thought every one of the locals met the ball hard and often they wouid not 8lwaye land on the green. Hail starred in a way most beautiful see and even the telling of it makes every fans' blood tinglee. Only three of the visitors found the leather successfully and the way they went alter that drop was a joko. Perfect control, a good think box, curves and speed al combined in one makes a hard combin- . ation to heat and Hall has them all and with a catcher of Weinberg's caliber forms a battery ot class seldom seen outside of the major league teams. All praise to the good backers ot a good pitcher, the stven men back of Hall in Saturday's game complete the finest team in Jersey. Senator McNichol at the close of the game remarked that though his team had been beaten it was fairly beaten and concluded by saying, "You couldn't see a better game in any of ;the professional contests in Philadelphia.
