GOLF CLUB THE ATTRACTION THE DAILY BAPPENIN6S Club ficise Social Headquarters and Center of Interest for Man;- People Sunday at the Golf Club was quite busy. No matter how hot it is ,in the city there is always a breeze on the links and the players knowing this flocked to the club. W. L. Allen and J. W. Janney opened the day's play with a two some. J. F. Lucas played two rounds, one 1 in the morning and another in thee afternoon. L. Bartholomew tooK out a card for the day and played around (witb F. W. Aiken, W. W. Shaw and W. L. Allen. R. Wister came up in the afternoon for revenge on M. Hoopes, who had beaten him on Saturday. W. P. Breen played in the alternoon with C. O'Malley and J. Morris. I President L. H. Ay res and Secretary j H. M. Juati played a round in the af- j ternoon. W. C. Bglin took out a card for the day. E. Worth and E. Yarnall took out cards for the day and were out trying to lower their Saturday's records. Dr. C. N. Davis, the genial chairman oTtbe Green Committee, has Just returned from a trip' abroad and was heartily welcomed at the club on Saturday. Dr. Davis has been making an extended tour of the links of Great Britain with a .view of introducing the best features of these classic links at Cape May. The Doctor says he played j his best game at be Hovlake, his score j was 122; 60 out and 62 in. "That's going some. " Dr. Davis found that some of the greens at Hoylake were protected by J rushes and he has a suspicion that the cutting down of the cattails in tbe pond at the fourth hole was a "faux pas." j , When Dr. Davie announced his intention of going aoroad at the beginning ' ' of the golfing season there was much j peculation as to the cause of fuch ans j i unusual proceedure. All is now clear. ! i He had always been pretty well satis- , ' fied with his olass as a golfer until the | i

jnnior Davises began to acquire skill at the game. When Miss Annette began to go in the forties the situation J became strained, when Charles, Jr., ■ ' becamejable to play all square matches with hin. he tried to console himself S | with paternal ' pride, but when Miss ] Gulielma acquired skill enough to - 1 really feel that pater could hardly j furnish her a good practice match the J situation became 'insufferable and the Dr. went abroad ostensibly for his " | health but really for [a postgraduate ! course'in golf and a consultation with e I the leading specialists on his on chronic e J golfing maladies. The above mentioned e score shows the results of his trip, is While the Saturday tournament did not make any material changes in the d | relative position of the leaders in the j club cup point scoring competition, it e j added some new elements of uncertain- >. ty. R. W. Harvey, who received 5 j points for first, and J. L. Dillon, who added the three points for second to his r j score, making him 6 in all, are both • j within easy reach of the leaders. The * relative standing to date is as follows : T. M. Allen s;2-3 , i W. L. Allen 8 1-3 j W. B. Mel lor 6 1-3 J J. M. E. Hildretb 6 . j F. W. Aiken 6 W. W. Shaw 6 , J. L. Dillon 6 G. H.
