Clarence Selover, who has been on a tug boat the past three months, bas returned home ana is working in the bay. On Tuesday evening the church gave the pastor. Rev. .E. B. Somers .and wife, a reception. About sixty were present and all bad a pleasant time. Mr. Somers is a good preacher and a worker and we hope thisawilJ be a very prosperous year in the churches. Mrs. Samuei Selover bas returned trom a pleasant visit with.friende in Philadelphia. The Easter service which was post poned until last Sunday evening was largely attended and all did their parts in a creditable manner. The committee did good work. * Miss Florence Brown, one of the committee made a nice pillow of flowers and the next day it was placed on the grave of J. M. Crease, a former superintendent. Mrs. Mary Ellen Lake and daughter, Mrs. Sadie Stephens, of West Cape May, were called to Beesley's Point -j last week to attend the funeral of Mrs. Mary Foster, oldest sister of Captain | Elmer Lake, and somewhere between Mrs. Lake's home and South Seaville she lost her breast pin which she valued very highly because it was ber | mother's. Our new pastor Rev. E. B. Somers preached a grand Easter sermon on Sunday morning and Dr. Wright preached another Easter sermon in the evening. He beld .the quarterly conference on Monday morning. Frank Ma this bas been assisting Captain Henry Bennett in painting his bouse. It looks fine in wbite and green. William Ewing, of Fishing Creek, was here on Tuesday delivering bis famous blackberry plants. He says it is.no uusual thing to pick two crates off of one vine. A large number of our people attended the Grange at Dias Oreek on evening when a class of sixteen were taken in. The Rio Grande Grange bad been invited and a large delegation was present. After tbe reception some of tbe candidates sang. "We will have to mortgage the farm."' The lecturer gave a short entertanment and refreshments were s erred. And be it further ordained and enacted that upon tbe completion of the house sewer work on Maryland and New York Avenues ordered under tbe provisions of this ordinance, the cost thereof shall be assessed to tbe adjacent properties respectively to tbe amonflt of the benefits conferred upon tha said properties respectively in accordance with tbe provisions of tbe charter of tbe City of Cape May and existing laws gov erning such city as assessments ; said assessments shall be made immediately upon the completion of such work and beoome payable within three months from the date of such assessments. And be it further ordained and enacted that upon the issuanoe of said bonds au amount equal to two per centum per annum shall be paid into tbe sinking fund to create a sufficient to meet such long and short outstanding bonds at their maturity, and there shall be assessed annually in the said City of Cape May tbe necestaxes to pay into the said su.king fund annually tbe necessary amount and also to pay the annual interest on said long and sbort term bends.
