Heretofore the life guard service has been a volunteer one, with an snnml contribution from the dty, but the dty has now taken it under its control and will prescribe rules, uniforms, etc. The men will remain on duty the greater part of the day and this will be a great protection to bathers who bathe before and after the popular bathing hours.
