The Golf Links And Tennis Courts AT LAHTIC CITY WINS GOLF CONTEST Interesting Gossip of the Links and the Numerous Enthusiastic Players Who Daily Enjoy the tarns— Card and Tsa Parties a Eejular Fsstuie. The largest crowd of the season gathered at the Cape May Golf Club for tha usual weekly handicap tournament. Not only members, but an unusuallylarge number of visiting players were J" entered. While the men were busy on the links the ladies were having an : interesting putting match on the clock . golf in front of the club house. On the porch, social leaders of the cottage eolony were enjoying themselves at the ] regular Saturday afternoon tea. A fine i musical program was rendered by Mr. ] Harry Hertzog's orchestra. The men's tournament was won by < P. J. Graves, with a net score of 72. i The scores were: . P. J. Graves 80 8 72 , J. E. Smith 81 9 72 f F. R. Shattuck 83 11 72 ] H. M. Justi 88 16 72 ( I C. N. TENNIS NOTES The management has decided to move the board for engaging courts from the club house porch to the courts. All members desiring to engage a court have the privilege of putting their name down for morning or afternoon, and such court will be saved for them until | the time stated. Otherwise no oourt I will be kept for players. Please remember this fact as the courts are greatly in demand. The. best thing is j to come to the courts early, say nine fifteen in the morning and three o'clock in the afternoon You will have first 1 choice. Since the playing has increased ' so much during the last two weeks, players will be limited to an boar on a court when they are in demand. This ' is about the fairest way of giving a rime limit as the club wishes to give all players the same chance at the game. Players will also be asked to play doubles when the courts are crowded. Also, if a player is asked to give up a court 1 after an hour playing, heor she may wait for a vacancy. This will give all a fair chance at the • game. - Mr. Fred Wilmsen is a regular now. 1 3 He has been trimming up some of hie ; 3 friends during the last three or four 5 days. 5 Mr. H. Can by was down for Satur2 day and Sunduy. He took the opporT tunity 01 playing both days. Mr. G. S. Ireland is registered for n 2 week. He visits the courts in the Wilm- j sen automobile daily. Miss Eugenia Van Sant had a few j games of singles with Mas F. Debilver , on Saturday afternoon. Mr. G. Ks^Crozer, Jr., and Mr. M. 1 Can by were down over Sunday from their work in the city. They were a close match for Dr. H. H. Brown and , ' Mr. H. Hunn on Saturday morning. ( • Mr. Mark and his brother played j • jolly match with Mr. Pfiel and Mr. Marti pby. MrM. Mike Machado was on the slab and i it-
had it comparatively easy. Mike has won six of the seven games pitched for Cape May this season, Saturday's contest being his fifth consecutive victory The Cape May boys did not play with the snap of the previous games and plainly showed the strain of the hard series of the week, but at that easily outclassed the visitors.
