YACHT HEWS. At the yacht chib Wednesday afteryt noon a large party of Sea Isle young folks were entertained at the Cape May Yacht Club by Mist Gertrude Wright, the popular daughter of Spencer D. ty Wright, who is a summer resident well known here. ld The young people came over in a large j. sailing yacht and were received" by Miss Wright at the club, where luncheon waa u. served to thirty in the grill room. The g party was escorted to the mouth of the harbor cm- their return trip. ^ The Ilys the real hero of the Philadelphia to Havana race which took" place on May 21st is attracting much atten- ^ tion here. The Ilys received third prize and most le of the glory for arriving safely at Ha|d vana, "being such a midget," as they expressed it there. The net work which ( proved so necessary during that run haa been removed, that ne work saved •B the lives of her crew during the race aa it prevented them from being tossed overboard in the rough sea which they encountered. The rating of the trim yacht is 40-60 and she made the run in six days 21 hours and 47 minutes and 15 seconds. BOARD OF FREEHOLDERS MEET The Board of Freeholders met yesterday at Court House and received bids for $10,000 worth of bonds issued to pay for Scbellenger's Landing new bridge. They were all taken at a premium by home people. Pilot Harry Davis taking '* $5000; Samuel Townsend, $1000; Clinton ' Hand, $1000; Sol Needles, $3000. c A resolution passed ordering HoDy Beach road closed from Saturday night next at 6 o'clock until Sunday night at tame hour for the purpose of opening the drawbridges for the passage of the large dredges which were used in building the road. - Children Cry FOR FLETCHER'S , CASTORIA \ , t LADIES GIVE EUCHRE • A Bridge and Euchre tournament and ? i tea was given by the members of the la- ^ I dies association at the Cape May Golf -, Club Wednesday afternoon in which f ■ twenty-eight participated. The tables t owing to the dampness were placed in the club rooms instead of on the porch 1 as usual. The hostess of the tea were Mrs. ° Dunn and Mrs. Sellers. Ice Cream, lem- ~ 1 onade and cake were served to the guests. On Thursday, August 11th, the annual P party of the club will be held n and the active raebers are working hard h to make this one of the best annual $ parties held for many years. 0 The fee wil be fifty cents and all mem- ~ are asked tc aid.
