These goods can be bought for cash or credit. Tough gamblers and liquor sellers " driven from interior citiee have been known to establish themselves at one of the resorts as their next move and to become tougher than ever. Consequently it behooves the resorts to become more vigilant than they have been to keep out this class of people. No resort can afford to harbor these toughs and should make strenuous efforts to rid themselves of them, the moment they are discovered. The liquor dealers, themselves, should be moBt active in this matter, for those of them who make any effort to obey the law, are damaged by the presence of outlaws running dives and may, themselves, suffer for their indifference. There is a rumor that one of the ' toughs above alluded to 1ms landed in Cape May and is running a speakeasy on Jackson street. If so, he should be promptly rooted out and given the severest penalty the law will permit. Color is added to the rumor by his recent offensive conduct toward a prominent citizen who was guilty of remarking that "I hear a rumor that there is a speak-easy at such and such a place." People, of this kind are always remarkably brave, especially when 'lit up." brave until their little bTuff is called. Nothing more beneficial can occur at Cape May that the prompt weeding ont of all crooks and of every den at which they can be found, whenever they or it can be discovered. Vigilance along these lines by the proper authorities will do more to win the confidence of the public than any other one thing. Read the Star and Wave. Advertise in the Star and WavB.
