A DESERVED TRIBUTE Mr. Alfred Cooper >n the last issue Of his Cape May County Gazette, paid as fine a tribute to Judge Eldredge, of this county, as could well be written of a public man. We give it below and we heartily endorse its sentiment* : "If there is an honest man in Cape May County who is not thankful that the" couaty is so highly honored in the possession of such a man as Henry Eldredge as its Common Pleas Judge, he is keeping, bis opinions to himself these days. The Gazette has such high esteem for Judge Eldredge that it dare not use the words that best describe him, lest some carping critic shall style our praise as fulsome flattery; and yet so marked is his ability as a judicial officer, so evident his old-fashioned I honest v, so clear his keen perception of the truth of the axiom that "he who, nerves his country best serves bis party , bent" that he. deserves the strongest ran mends tion that can be given him I The Democratic party made no mistake when it picked Mr. Eldredge for the judgship. and he is not only a credit to that party in everv sense of the word, but be is a rredit to the Countv and the Stat* ' at well, and unlike Cardinal Wool set. be will never bare to cry out hi anguish. "Had I but served mv God with half the zeal I've served my King. He would not in my age have left me Baked to my enemies." .No political party need blush for such men as Hon. Henrv Eldredge. and no partv maa need fear to "hurt his nartv" bv following where Judge Eldredge leads" . • - TENDERED RECEPTION TO DEPARTING MINISTER The members of the Presbyterian Church, of Shippensburg.
