Church, was held at Hotel Lafayette, y Thursday evening. So large was the crowd that surged j the Lafayette card room, that the com- ^ mittee in charge, headed by Mr. William Barnett, was forced to put tables in the lobby, and ball room. Even then there no room to spare, so much, that in- ] stead of the usual progressive playing, the players had to remain at their respective tables. - Bridge, euchre and five hundred were the games indulged in by all present. Among the prize winners tn these games were Mrs. B. A. Smith, Miss EleaHoban, Mr. Gene Rose, Stephen McCarthy and Mr. Joseph Denny. After the games were over and the ones had stowed away their prizes, the hall room was cleared of the card tables, the hotel orchestra, under the direction of Miss Elizabeth Feaster, rendered a few spicy selections, the rhythms of which soon enticed the young and old gentlemen to lead their favored damsels out upon the floor for a dance.
