hands playing the old familiar tunes, 1 "When Johnny Gpmes Marching Some," 1 •The Girl I Left Behind Me," "Anld J i-ang Syne," and many other old time ' war songs. There are many other stir- ■' ing pictures or scenes and nearly all of ' them, I may say, it is the feeling they 1 inspire. 1 am past the age when a mob ' has any attraction for roe, but this is « nothing like a mob. Thrilling and Pathetic. . { Pathetic it was to see these old "Boys ' in Blue" striving -with all their strength ami will _ to parade as they did fifty 1 yearn ago at the same .place. It was a j ' picture of patriotic fervor, a lesson in j patriotism. It is tho long look that re- ' veals truth. Things must lie seen in ' order to he understood. The National Fife and Drum Corp, j [ consisting ei/tirelv of the pld veterans, was a great feature in the parade, playing the same old inarching songs, "Rally Round the Flag" "Marching Through Georgia." It stirTed the old boys up to I * that pitch that they had when many of ■ j j them joined. In singing the chorus there i , were remnants of all the old famous . , regiments that won glory in liigtory, the • ^ Burktail, the California Regiment, Col- 1 tis Souaves, Rush Lancers. The ap- : plause was great whenever the old tat- , tered battle flags were borne along, and . . ' the men that carried them stepped out J , more lively whenever the applause j greeted them: Along the route of th»! , parade one could hear some calling ont j' to those in line the nickname, "Phil," • , 1 ".lack."
