THE GRANGE The officers of the Stone Harbor Grange, f6r 1916 excepting tie Worthy Vaster, Mrs. Reese P. Risley, and the 'Assistant Steward, Leon Herbert, both of whom were unavoidably absent, were installed last Saturday night, Deputy A. D. T. Howell officiating. Those assisting were Mrs .Howell as Chaplain; Harry Simpson, as acting Master, and Mrs. Troxel, as organist; .Mrs. Eli \ Town send presenting the candidates; I Overseer, Samuel E. Herbert; steward, X Ksnnard Turpin; lecturer, Mtfrie L. Van ^Thuyne ; chaplain -Eli" Townsend ; secroJ tary and ti^asurer, Osee Herbert; gate ^ keeper, E. S. Starr; lady assistant stew- . aid, Blanche Seamon ; the Graces, Kath- 1 •rine and Margaret Townsend and Esther Turpin. The meetings of this Grange are Saturday nights. The Gape May Pomona or County ' Grange will hold its winter meeting ; with the Oold Spring Grange, the after- j noon and evening of the 19th inst. It ' ] had been the purpose to ronfer the ' fifth degree in full form at this see- ! aion, but the general expression, so far h as heard, is that it will best be deferred , to A special meeting to be held in Cold < Spring a little later, and when there has ' been more time for preparation. The j special business of this winter's Pomona ! la the biennial installation of officers. | and which will probably be a number of ' the afternoon session. To have the de- ( gree conferred in full form In the af- , ternoon would be to spoil everything, 1 - and, to have it in the evening would be to drop Brother Howell's hour and j thus deprive a large number of people, j who look to the' Pomona evening session 1 as an open meeting, and for the good of the public. The great beauty of the Pomona degree will be lost if the presentation is hurried, and. there cannot be the time for rehearsal that will permit a perfect representation. Then, again, there has not been time to work ' up a full list of candidates for the degree. The plan being talked over is to take the oppertunity of being together to make arrangements for the degree 1 and with the idea of presenting something worth while. Mrs. Risley, who as ' Pomona is Goddess of the Degree, will ' meet with the ladies of the Oold Spring Grange, on Saturday, and action they c may take will be final 1 County Deputy Howell installed the Odd Spring officers on Monday, the Diss 1 Creek officers on Tuesday, the Palermo and Tuckahoe officers later in the week, ' and will visit Sonth SeaviBe for its installation next Tnesdav. The Rio ' ( = t

Grande Grange being on the same night as the Diaa Creek, had to find some one d«. COUNTY CODlfCa OF THE DOMESTIC ARTS. S&ndford of Plainfleld at ' President Hand's offioe in the Bank Building at Oonrt House, the afternoon 1 of the 22d inst., two weeks from this Saturday. Mrs. Sand ford is director of the .Home and School Division of the New Jersey Congress of Mothers and a 1 most pleasing speaker.
