Winter or Dormant Spray — Use concentrated ' lime sulphur dilnted 1-9. Thia spraying is for the control of the San Jose Scale and upon peach trees controls "Peach Leaf Curl. " Spray No. 2. Just as the blossom bucfif are showing color — 1 Use concentrated lime sulphur diluted 1-35, adding three pounds of arsenate of lead (paste form) . Thia spraying is for the control of fungus diseases, also to get any leaf feeding insects that may be around at that time. Spray No. 3. Just as the petals have fallen. — Use spray mixture same recommended for spraying No. 2. This spray is for the control of the Codling Moth and a second application in ' the control of fungus diseases such as Scab, Rot, Sooty-mold Fun- \ gua, etc. In applying this material be sure to fill each calyx cup V since the codling Moth enters through the blossom end of the fruit . I Spray No^— 4r About ten days after No. 3 . — Use same as 1 " /recommended for spraying Nos. 2 and 3, in sections where the ' y Codling Moth and fungus diseases are bad. a m Spray Nb. 5. About July 1st. — Using arsenate of lead (paste form) 3 lbs. to 50 gals, of water. This is for the control of the second brood of Codling Moth which enters the fruit where two specimens come in contact with one another. Ip certain sections this second brood are very destructive; in each Sections this spraying is very important . If the green aphis < V plant louse is numerous, black leaf 40 can be used in spray No. 3 and 3. Use 1 part black leaf 40 in 400-600 parts of sp'rav ftiixture. There are many other good spray materials on the 1 jharket such as Scalescide 1-16 as a substitute for Spray No. 1. J However, with peaches this material will in no way control "Peach t Leaf Curl." g Pyrox is an effective spray material and can be used as a sub- 1 stitute for sprays No. 3 and 4. The cost of this material is the J point objectionable in its use . There are also some few other good t spray materials that give fine results if used according to direc- r tions. However, the use of concentrated lime sulphur and arsen- 8 ate of lead has distinctive advantages over some of the other men- j tioned materials since it is absolutely effective and, furthermore, much cheaper.
