COAST GIL XDS NOW MILITARY HEW UNIFORMS OF THE COAST f GUARDS ARRIVE— AR*. SIMILAR TO REGULATION ARMY -UNI-FORMS-ONE STYLE KAKI, OTHER i BLUE. The uniforms of the United States Coast Guards have finally arrived and the men present a very military appearance in their Icaki or dark blue suits. The renowned old sailors middy .will no longer be used by the Guards and the quaint pictures depicting The rescue of the crew and passengers on a stormy night will have to be changed , and the new uniforms of the Coast Buards brought about by the merging Of the Revenue service with the LifeSavftng stations two years ago, will hare to be placed in this famous style of paintings. In replacing the quaint old uniforms the blue suits will be used on dress occasions while the kaki uniforms will be . used when the work is being done. The L guards are not allowed to use their old j' suits after all of the members of the crew are fitted, which will be in a few days and from then the -beach will see the patrol with their familiar type -of suits making their rounds. The only ' difference that the guards will present from a regular in the- army will be the tack of guns as that stage of their • equipment has not arrived yet but it is expected that they will be equipped with regulation soldiers' equipment in about a year. The style of uniform-* recently adopted does not hinder or benefit fhe efficiency of the men in any way but was done to emphasise the fact that these men are also on revenue work in addition to life-saving work. While on their way from Philadelphia ; with the newspapers for the morning, i an automobile truck in which several men were riding overturned at a bend . in Mill^-ane a little above Schellengere Landing, killing one of the men and injuring two others while another man on the truck escaped uninjured. For several years two auto trucks have always carried the Sunday news- , papers from Philadelphia in order to have the copies u. this city by early morning instead of depending on the train service, the first of which arrives at 9.05 a. m. The truck was somewhat behind time this week owing to trouble with the engine and Ernest King stood on the running board while the car was' in motion fixing the engine. His weight on the side of the car together with the weight of the newspapers that m%de it top heavy caused the truck to dipple over when the sharp corner was taken. The car fell on King, crushing him, and causing hi« death, while Bruce Murray and Abe Turkan were slightly bruised, owing to their fall from -the car as it going at a fairly fast clfp. The man in charge of the car, Mr. R. L'ndermark escaped uninjured. The injured men were sent to the Cooper Hospital in Camden while the automobile was removed to the Central Oarage for repairs.
