DEATH OP 8. ADDISON I WEISHAMPEL 1 The many Cape May friends of ( 8. Addiaon Weishampel wV* e • shocked to hear of hie -death in ; Allentown, Pa., on September 2. j On May 17th, 1892, he was mar- j ried to Miss Florence Sheppard, of ' 1 this city. He leaves hiB widow ' and one son, John Addison Wei- 1 •bampel. who is a senior at West 1 'Point Military Academy. The de- 1 ceased 'a body was brought to Cape 1 May, and interred in Cold Spring 1 Cemetery, on Tuesday, September 1 5. Of him the Allentown Demo- 1 crat, in its issue of Monday, Sep- ; tember 4, sp&tkes as follows : (From the Allentown Democrat, • Mionday, September 4, 1916.) I Allentown suffered a severe loss through the death over Sunday of ( three of its leading citizens in dif- 1 ferent walks of life. Seldom that three such prominent men like Frank Jacobs, the lawyer; S.. Addison Weishampel, the architect; and Daniel J. Kerschner. the merchant, die within so brief a period as that which marked their passing. j The city has few citizens who ex- j ceeded them in their various endeavors, and they will be missed from their usual lines of activity j . by their associates. The city-*has sustained a distinct loss in their deaths. S. ADDISON WEISHAMPEL. S. Addison Weishampel, of the firm of Jacoby and Weishampel, one of the leading areldtectural firms in the Sty, died at his home Saturday night. Mr. Weishampel i had been ailing for some time, but ■ no serious thought was given his illness untill .a week ago. when he suffered a nervous breakdown from which he never recovered. Samuel Addison Weishample. a self-made man. He was born in Baltimore, where he was educated ,in the city schools, later graduating ,/roin the Baltimore City College. He was the son of John F., and Mary (Addison) Weishampel. On May 17, 1892, he was married to Mass Florence Sheppard, of Cape May, N. J. He leaves his widow and one son, who is a senior at West Point Military Academy. -• Shortly after their' marriage. Mr. and 5lrs." Weishampel came to this city, where Mr.« Weishampel " entered the employ of Louis J'acohy, and a year or so later he and Mr. • Weishampel (established the firm of Jacoby and Weishampel. Hundreds of residences of this and other cities were built from designs made fe, the firm. Monuments from their designs in this city, are the Commonwealth Building, the Allentown National Bank, the Sacred Heart School, the First Presbyterian Church, and many others too numerous to mention. Mr. Weishampel was a member of the city planning commission, and as secretgjy of the commission appointed to select the Trekler Memorial to the First Defenders, which is to be placed in West Park. Mr. Weishampel was a homeloving man, and this was probably the reason that the only organization with which he was affiliated was the ilasons. He was a devout member of Linden Streeet M. E. Church for many years. Funeral services will be were this evening at 7.80 o'clock, at his late home, 49 South Fourth St. The remains will be taken to Cip • May to-morrow; where furthlr services will be held before burial THIRD ANNUAL CONTEST .
