< — > The Introduction — by Bell Telephone There is a simple, yet definite and complete telephone introduction that is as courteous and as pleasant as the beginnings of a personal chat. Just try this, next time the bell of your office telephone rings. Answer with your firm name and your own, as "Smith and Jones ; Jones talking." The caller will reply "Brown and Robinson ; Brown talking," and immediately the identity of both is pleasantly and fully established. "Well?" or "Hello, who is this?" are obsolete and leave an unpleasant impression.
