TO CONTINUE WORK Will Aid in Reconstruction by Organiting Friendship in Communities The War Camp Community Service, one of the most important organizations for the welfare of our fighting men and the communities with which they came in contact, will continue its work in peace, after nineteen months‘ distinguished service during the war. The War Camp Community Service has seen the unlimited value of united effort, and the soldier has seen it also. Because of this, the returned soldier will probably play a most important part in the reshaping of American affairs, The W. C, C. S. wants to get back of the soldier, and to put its organization and experience at his command. And they have found a way to do this and to give a permanence to the benefits of cooperation, by organiving the Community Service, Incorporated. The definite object of this organization is to provide a medium through which the residents of a community may become MEMBERS — and have 1 consequent live interest in the progress, prosperity and stability . of hix or her town. THE BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT should not only be . preserved, . bu strengthened. It deserves the of all publicspirited citizens. available means for the Boy f movement have thus far sufficed fo the organization and training of only a small proportion of the boys of the | eomevenl There ure approximately 10,000,000 boys in the United Sta between the ages of twelve and twen ty-one. . Of these only 375,000 are en rolled as members of the Boy Scout of America. AMERICA cannot | acquit | here commensurately with her power and {influence in the great period now facing her and the world unless the boys of America are given better op{portunity than heretofore to prepare [thomsele s for the responsibilities of citizenship. | EVERY nation depends for its foture upon the proper training and development of its youth. The Ameri(Fee boy must have the best training and discipline our . great | democracy can provide if America is to maintain her idents, her standards and her influence in the world. { THE plan, therefore, for Boy Scout week during which a universal appeal will be made to all Americans to supply the means to put the Boy Scouts of America in a position to carry forward effectively and continuously the splendid work they are doing for the youth of America, should have the unreserved support of the Nation. THEREFORE, I, WOODROW WILSON, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, dowhereby recommend that the period beginning Sunday, June Sth, to Flag Day, June 14th, be observed as Boy Scout Week through the United States . for the purpose of strengthening the work of to Boy Scouts of America. 1 EARNESTLY recommend that, in every community, a Citizens‘ Committee under the leadership of a. THE BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT offers unusual opportunity for volunteer service. It needs men to act us committeemen | and as | leaders. of groups of bo 1 hope that all who can will enlist for such personal seree, enroll as associate members and give all possible financial assistance to this worthy organization of Ameriean boyhood. Anything that is done to increase the effectiveness. of the genuine contribution to the | welfure Boy Scouts or America will be a of the Nation. The fee is one dollar each and certain privileges attach, The scout activities are very numerous and special medals are issued to scouts for work in many particular lines. | Associate members become valuable therefore, ‘because no matter what their line of activity or business, they can asist in some fem» ture of the scout instruction or oc casion and become members of the Court of Henor, which includes all who participate as instructors in any degree. The Boy Scout organization the geatest boys organization in the world and nothing of greater value to the boys of Cape May and vicinity that can be imagined. Every man in our communities who has any interest in boys should assist in this movement and help it grow. | Competent mon are needed as scout masters for hew troops to be formed. .
