DO NOT FORGET THE BOY SCOUT 1 It should be considered no less a 4 privilege than a doty to contribute to 1 the fund that is about to be raised in ' this City for the Boy Scouts. That 1 this privilege should be so slowly recognized and this duty so inadequately < performed is- rather surprising. There < has been much generous help, bat ' more is needed before the work that ' imperatively needs to be done can be undertaken. To the personal appeals ' which are now to be made there 1 should be ample response. No cause * deserves better of the public. To enlarge upon the value of the 1 Boy Scouts to the community is superfluous^ No one who has seen these healthy, manly, enthusiastic youngsters can possibly doubt ft. The * normal boy hae a huge reservoir of 1 unused energy to draw upon. • Hie * restlessness, his curiosity? must find 1 an outlet. The human race is. natu- ^ rally gregarious, mora so in youth 0 than in age. The "gang" is one ol 1 manifestation of a perfect justifiable ' impulse. The trouble is that the *> uncontrolled gang gets into mischief, 11 and after that, only too easily, into ^ crime. d Now ..a member of the Scouts . hae * joined a gang of the right sort He ° will have his fun without doing either himself or his neighbor harm He ^ will find a safe outlet for his physical | P exuberance and his glowing imagina- ° tion. No one needs to be told what w the Scouts have done for Philadelphia h and for every city, large and small, i 81 where they have organized, where oon- 1 ditions make innocent and healthful j L pleasures difficult. The training the j : organization gives reaches deep downj

to the very roots of the boy's utara. The influence upon the coming generation is compelling. The city boys of today are better than those of yesterday, and those of tomorrow wS! be stUI . i£GB Let not the work here firil for lack of money. More boys than can be taken oare of already wish to joinr Larger quarters, more abundant facilities, are required, "7 You are asked to a contribution such as you feel able to make. A number of men and women are oontributihg both time end money. . MEMORIAL TO OUR SAILORS AND SOLDIERS There has been a lot of discussion the oohmtns of the Star and Ware about a Memorial to the boys, who, when their country called, willingly their homes and their friends and our very selves against the onslaughts of the Hun and his allies. war has been over for over twa but not a thing has been done bo show the boys our gratitude. Why not ask the City Commissioners to buy property opposite the now out-of-public building and erect a nice white marble or even stone brick City HalL The City should have public buildthat citizens of the town could point out to visitors with pride instead of shame as we have to do now. If we get awake Cape May has a cImwo j be one of the largest seashore reI sorts on the Atlantic coast. I TIKES — Sixe ItM for sale, j Lehman Bros.JJecatur Street, Cape May.
