R. j Rhodes was accepted and W. Leon Eldredge was appointed to fill the vacancy. JThe project for a Scout ' , House and. grounds was seriously talk- j ed over and the Committee in charge ' continued. The Scoutmasters report- j ed that all three Troops were well attended at the regular weekly meetings and new members were being accepted. It is earnestly desired that a change can be made whereby the meetings of tie Scouts may he had in a* heated room for the winter. The Summer Camp was reported as uncomplete success. The matter of tSte ' Soout bouse and grounds should be j taken seriously by the community, as it is clear that were it possible to have a Qamp grounds which could be placed at the service of Scout organi/a- 1 tions outside of Gape May, it would be a very valuable 'business and advertising asset. He had gone to the hospital • for treatment on the previous Weds nosday. ^ t * The remains were brought home on . the Monday evening train and the funeral occurred on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late residence. ~ Arbutus Lodge, F. and A. M. wet* in charge of the ceremonies at the t grave. The death of Dr. John S. Douglass j of Cape May Court House, deprives . Gape May County of one of -its most progressive and public-spirited citi- ! sens. He seemed always ready ^to . give his services for the promotion of ' useful activities for the benefit of his I county or locality and his name will ' , found associated with many move- 1 1 ments -designed for the promotion of ' the public welfare. He was/also a 1 physician, skillful and sincere, who ! ; himself without stint for his 1 patients and did kindly deeds daily * which were never recorded or pub- * lished excepting in the hearts' of those 1 who were the recipients and in God'6 r books. He was a dependable man in v all of his walks and associations and ' people leaned upon him as upon an s ~_L. i iii ... d D oak when things were to be done or

When the nation's troubles were ap- ~ preaching, those who knew him .best r knew that he would enroll in the na,r I itaon's service and this he did at an early date before our entrance into the - 1 war, and later when war was declared "• became a member of the medical serr vice in the army, with the rank of Captain. Previously he had served as - a member of the draft board, a posPjition which required the most stren- < uous work and excellent judgment. ' , He has been' also a strong influence ' i in securing the great improvement i in schools at Court House. He has ' interested in the County Fair As- 1 soaiation since its first inception and ■ him perhaps more than to any other one man, is due the fact that the annual oounty fair is still an event in the list of annual county activities. He has been a member of the County of Education since 1917 and exceedingly earnest in increasing the usefulness c it the county vocational school in agriculture And household, arts. He has been for many years active member of the County MedAssociation and an important influence in maintaining interest in it
among the practoners of the county. To do all. that she conceived to be her duty had been her paramount aim and she . had never shnmk nor hesitated in per- , formance. She~was instant in sea- i son and out of season in the doing of : good works and many who have ' to manhood and womanhood I will remember with kindly affection, . ministrations and loving guidance in their youth. She was always in- < rested in the young and her amdable j efforts for them assisted their happi- i ness and kept their footsteps in the I right path.
