A NOTED HYMN WRITER EDGAR PAGE STITES, AUTHOR OF BEULAH . LAND AND OTHER HYMNS FAMILIAR TO CONGREGATIONS OF THOUSANDS OF CHURCHES IN AMERICA WAS A RESIDENT OF CAPE MAY. Edgar Page Stites,. who wrote Land," "Simply Trusting," and many other gospel hymns which enjoyed extraordinary popularity, was a local deacon in the MethoEpiscopal Church and for several served as a. supply preacher in Dakota. For many years before his death,' on January t, he had nude home at Cape May, N- J. He been a member of the Methodist | Episcopal Church for over sixty At the outbreak of the war he was living in Richmond, Va. During. the war he was stationed at Philadelphia and had ^charge of feeding the t>o<>M which passed through that
city. At the time of his death he the oldest insurance ' agent in New Jersey. A few years ago in a letter to Rev. G. W.
