The,. fight is bitter and every wii . that can be pulled by -all the faction- "" and- organizations will be- stretcher taut before the polls close. Party lines are being almost en tirely ignored and the fight is center :, ing upon personalities and records 3 the candidates. -, _ Whether the voters of Wlldwood ;. favor a recall or not no longe* enter, into the question. A recall is com in v Judge Sets Day , • In a letter to City Clerk Winter burn, Judge Henry Kid hedge has in formed him tliat he.'wilPsit in Wild i.i wood for the purpose of registering f»; voters for the coming A-ecall election.--on Thursday, July 7th, between the hours of 9 A. M. and 5 P. M. and thai . if necersary he will i»it a longer time r to accommodate the voters. He will sit at the Wlldwood Cits'' Hall, that 5 being the- place set by Mr. Wirtter- : burn. ' It is believed that thj. Judge will , have a very 'busy time on Thursdaj because of the intense interest in the c approaching, elections and because 1 every: candidate -will make a strenu- _ ous effort to get the vote out- There . are a 'considerable number of people j who are -not yet registered particu- , iarly women and it is thought thar they are vitally interested in the event of July Twelfth and will make . themselves eligible to vote so that they may have a voice iii the city affairs, even if they did not for the ■ last general election. - \ ) Smith Out For Mayor I Under the combined pressure . brought to bear by the major busic ness interests and prominent citizens of Wildwood, W. Courtright Smith, the popular managing secretary of the Board of Trade has consented to enter the race for Mayorship.. Mr. Smith needs no introduction to Wild wood. His affiliations with the JTiil- / adeiphia Evening Bulletin before - coming to this city are known to j ; everyone as is his splendid upbuildr.lng record in Wildwood. >i Mr. Smith is the type of clean-cut " business man that will make a Mayor - | of whom Wildwood will be ptnud. I I Mr. Smith's letter of acceptance I ' follows: Wildwood, N, J., June 21st, 1921. i T4 the "Editor: in acquiescence to the demand of a large number , of reputable residents and taxpayers of this city I feel it 1 my public duty to permit nil1 name to , 'used as a candidate for the mayor , pf this wonderful city of Wildwood. This statement is being made as » , means of letting every one -know my "~ , position and also to inform thoK5 that had been told that I- would not * ; run. The pressure that has been brought to bear upon me has forced j me to take this decision. It was no particular desire on my own part either for public office or for the combining of the two offices, for a short wri.od .at least, if not for a longer .Jime. Therefore, people circulating peti tions tovhavc me run for mayor are when stating that W. Court right Smith is seeking the nomination lor the mayoralty election on July 12th. WiOv the best interest of Wildwood at lieai t, for a bigger ' and better known resort, I am I Respect fully' yours, W- Courtright Smith Knlph Carlljfho has grown up with and who "has bden successful in both the bathhouse and con- ■ Jracting businesses has accepted the invitation to enter the race .for commissioner of finance and with a 'can a record as is his. Mr. Carl! may rest ^assured of a poffhlar sup tort. Citizens all over tRe "county,- particidarly here in Cape" May, are awaiting the' result of the recall cier t ion with intense, interest. EVEN CHICKENS KNOW Said, the -puddle duck. to the litfle .white liin "I've not sold an egg since I doix't when; Yet I feel quite Aire that 'the eggI lay Are as good as a hen's- egg an- . Said the little white hen to the"pud die duck,' "You think perhaps viu are out of . - Your eggs arc as good, I'll freely admit, Arid larger, too, by quite a bit." "But, my dear Mrs. Duck, I'll give you a tip; The whole fault lies with your salesmanship You produce your egg and without quack To your swimming pool you waddle back." "I tell the world, to let it know, So I cackle around for an, hour so so. There's a good demand for the eggs I ley. For I make my "advertising pay."
