GREEN CREEK MECCA FOR : FISHERMEN j NORBURY'S LANDING ON THE , BAY SHORE AT GREEN CREEK . HAS LBAPfeD TO THE FORE, WITH BIG PARTY BOAT FLEET J —FISH ALWAYS BITE IN THE . BAY. j One of the newefit assets to Wild- ^ wood and the resorts of the island as . an added attraction to fishing sports- . men is Norbury Landing's big fleet j of party boats. For several years the . landing has been pushing to the fore j with a few more boats a year but until this spring there was ■' never j enough boats to accommodate- the j parties who wanted to get into the Bay afteT the fish which always , seem to be running there. This spring thirty party^oats went into commission and now theye is a great fleet anchored just beyofid the break of the mild surf. Not pnly party boats but the fleet of clammers craft, ferry boats and small boats of private owners help to swell the num ; ber and makes one of the most at- 1 tractive marine pictures anywhere*"in [ the_ southern part, of the State. A new pier was also this , 1 year so that th» boats can always l land their parties. This pier while i a good one now will be built twice as i long at the beginning 'of next season- . A general store selling refreshments, baskets, fete., is al'so an added comfort to visitors. 1 Fishing on the Bay side is alto1 gether different from' the sport on I the Ocean front and cottagers of I Wildwood and Cape May are making , use of the new conditions of affairs . and there are at times as many as 50 cars parked in the vicinity of the - landing. ' Philadelphia parties are coming as 1 far as Wildwood junction and there i getting off. The busses connect with i the trains when they have been ontt- ,' filed ahead. Moreover, there is now a movement on foot to run a • regular bus to Wildwood and there .meet the parties that may want to try their luck in the Bay. „ Every Sunday .the party boats are all out to the grounds early so that Wildwood and Cape May folk are making their trips during the week days when they can get their pick of the best boats. To add zest to the

sp«t a number of the hoots are putting up i pool. Every flshen— drops in a dollar ami the lucky fisherman who lands the biggest fish la • the day gets the pool This off course is used only when, the party I wants an added attraction and incen* | tive to landing something real. See turtles and sharks are counted. Captain Nathaniel High has' a rod '. which he never allows to be beateiL J generously loans it to any of the ; party who wants to fish the outfit j but woe unto the holder of the rod is he who lets it get beaten during the day. He is severely penalized. There is an atmosphere W good1, fellowship and" sportsmanship at the N seldom found about anyplace of its kind and it is predicted that Green_ Creek in the .coming sumwill be almost as well known ^ as the resorts on the ocean front because the beach front resorts are using Norbury's -Landing as an asset 1 Coast resorts have health, pleasure, 2 recreation and amusement to sell and 3 this already famous fishing head3 quarters is the nearest to them. ® Fortesque has "nothipg on" Green " Creek while Green Creek has a num- { ber of features that eclipse the oth- [ «r. . ( . Weak fish and croakers are .-running this week and_ boats are return- - ing with some fine catches. The n I croakers especially are running, unusually large. s The Captains, are getting ready for s the appearance of the drum fish, e both red and black on the drum beds. s The tackle most used - according to j. the wise ones is first of all a line of . about 32 threads 150 to 200 feet in j length and a dipsy of about 1 1-2 lbs. This makes an excellent hand line but a great many of the visiting n sportsmen prefer their- rods and f reels and a good long scientific fight with the gamey drum or Channel s Bass. q Drum fish when running well are e a pest to the oystermen and clam-^ pier but the fisheremen finik them s anything but. a pest. They arc a real g man-sized sporting proposition, jj To take care of a demand for a summer' outing close to the fishing ls grounds at Norbury's LaniJlrtg, E. Stuckle expert taxidermist with a g hobby of mounting fish has estab0 lished in the c filter of Grjen Creek at the famous old Oak tree know* g as Washington's Qak, a camp which 1 lt by the opening of next spring will V g consist of a large community house and dining room and several rustic }f cabins. Here parties can establish ie themselves for a vacation and be taken to and from the fishing . S grounds' every day. This is/ode of the permanent establishments that are being planned to keep this great . fishfog-'ground on . the map for all . time. I
