' Why Hibernate? . Have you heard a man asking: "How do you find ► ' Business?" . '?j.. ' **. ' I This is the answer; "By going after it" | H- MR. MERCHANT Cape May/ is a summer resort and daring the summer is so overcrowded that business is just pushed into -your doors by the throng. So much so, perhaps, that yotyhave all that you and your clerks can do. "Hint's "when business /is good and you advertise. YOU don't find business th^n- It finds yon. I » . _ N-" •) ,• ' Bat when summer is gone and the rush is over, what then? Da you decide business is going to be poor, stop your advertising and hibernate? Possibly you will say, "I don't need to advertise- I've been in this town for ten years and everybody knows me." /Probably they do, but did you ever stop to think of the sales you lose because your fellow competitor advertises, or of how much more business yfo u would do if you did advertise? Everybody may know you and what business you are in, but everybody, needs reminding continually that you hlave something to sell that they need. I Advertising today, especially in newspapers, is the greatest business flutter there is. This is acknowledged by men who know; people read ad^^Krertisements in newspapers- They have Been educated to' do so. Every ^^■merchant and business man in Cu'pe May ought to advertise- It will increase their business and build up the city from a summer resort to, a year round town. » m \ You remember the story of "John Wanamaker. The first day he was in ■ business his receipts were $24.64. He kept the 64 cents and spent the $24 f the next day for advertising. We can't all duplicate that performance because we can't all be John Wannmakcrs, but according to the best statistics three per cent- of gross sales should be put into advertising. Results will be sure if we all advertise in proportion to our business, and adverting honestly and give service. A newspaper can bring people to your sfore or other place of business, but it can't make people buy your goods. ' You or your clerks must do that and it depends on the service you give as to how successful your business will be ,and what results you will derive from your advertising. What Is done in the big cities can be done right here in Cape May if you will show the pep, give serviee"hiHl Adevrtise. ANY experienced oil refiner can make a gasoline which will -L~\. develop maximum power, or give maximum economy, or easy starting; that will enable a motor to idle well and run smoothly at a low throttle; or that will give small carbon deposit. But to perfect a balanced gasoline combining all the desirable 1 *• * properties in proper proportion took years pf careful experimentation by our chemists and engineers.
Crudes from practically every producing field, improved refining processes, delicate chemical determinations, tests for fl£me speed, pressure, residue; tests in every type of internal combustion engine, both in the laboratory and in actual sex-vice; these were some of the factors which led to the development of our improved "Standard" Motor Gasoline. This balanced "Standard" Motor Gasoline equals or excels other motor gasolines in pep, power and economy. It keeps fuel and upkeep costs down the year around.
It is particularly desirable in cold weather whpn less perfectly conditioned gasoline makes motors sluggishNeven with a rich, wasteful, carbon-making mixture. Next time you need gasoline drive in where yon see the familiar "S. O." sign. Get a taukful of balanced "Standard" Motor. Gasoline. See what remarkable pulling power vou get on the hills, how quickly your motor "snaps xn." Keep tabs on the mileage you get. One quality wherever you Kuy it. At servic# stations and garages everywhere.
