POINT WINS ' ON DIAMOND I The Oape May Point Tigers open- 1 ed the baseball season on Friday af- > ternoon at the Point, defeating the Vocational School nine from Cold Spring in a long, but exciting game, 16 to 14. ; The Tigers started the game with j seven grammar school boys and two i, others who left the Point school last f year in the lineup. The Vocational j[ School had six players of High j School ege, one who greudated from . Court House High School five years t ago, and two grammar school boys ' on the team- Jimmy Blevin, who J started on the mound for the Tigers, i was nicked for eight runs in the first i inning- The Point came back in their - half and scored three. The second ^ session saw Rufus Gall, a dusky four- , teen year old boy, on the hill for the : Tigers, and from then on the Voca- . tional School experienced difficulty in ' getting men on base- Meanwhile the Tigers had accepted reinforcements in the shape of five new players, and gradually pulled up on their opponents until, at the end of the seventh, - the Point was leading, 15-12. The , Vocational School rallied in the ninth t and pushed two more runs over the i rubber, but was unable to get the ty- ■ ing marker across. 1 The feature of the game was Gall's pitching. He permitted only four I safe hits in the seven innings he hurled- Despite inclement weather, a good sized crowd turned out for the encounter. AROUND TOWN ' The few days of sunshine have smiles to cottage owners who are receiving applications from ersThe frog hollow concert has been continuously running for at least three months. Perhaps spring is hereThe band has not been able to pursue its weekly rehearsals for some time- If it expects to go out on Memorial Day it had better be getting busy. Besides the High School Orchestra will be ahead. What is the matter with the young men who have voices and do not sing excepting in street corner, barber shop and cigar store fake quartettes? To enjoy singing and to entertain, it is essential to be able to read music 90 as to sing at sight- The mastery of . sight singing is not so particularly difficult. The singer who cannot read < is of no real good in a choir or a ' chorus. Fakirs have their place in society and perhaps in music. The ability to unite chords is only the alphabet of singing in haroiony and 4 confined to very narrow limits. , ' PLEASE LEAVE YOUR ORDER FOR EGGS EARLY r We have all size eggs made from fresh eocoanut.
