Many of the ladies have found the making of hats very inexpensive, when compared to the ready-made hats of the same style and quality," and while it is possible to save upwards of $5-00 per hat, the real reason that lured so many women into learning this unique accomplishment was the fact that much could be learned in the art of ready-made hats. In several of the groups, husbands visited their ■wives in hat-making course and found that, after all, there was considerable skill and knowledge required and that bonnet building was a real business and was something more than a mere whim, as many had expected. The local leaders are giving freely of their time and have listed manyseparate groups for the near futureIn this instance the ladies are setting an example for the men in carrying out extension workOnion Maggot Control It is also time to think of onion maggot control. The strawberry crop is one well-worth consideration for Cape May county fanners. - The soil is adapted to the growing of just as large and fine berries as anywhere in the State, providing the f proper care and fertilization is given I them in the first year of their growth. Agent THEY EAT SKEETERS ' The little freshwater fishes called "top minnows," have proved bo useful for destroying the wrigglers of mal-aria-mosquitoes (which they greedily devour) that tj^e Fisheries Bureau has been called up to furnish supplies bf them to foreign countriesIn response to requests from the League of Red Cross Societies, shipments of the minnows have recently , beer, forwarded to Italy and Spain. The government of Argentina has asked for them,Wd one lot has been sent to Porto Rico. The Fisheries Bureau is going to make a business Of breeding them, so as to have plenty on hand with which to fill orders.
