COMMUNITY CLUB I The business meeting of the Women's Community Club for the month of November was helthin the High Sohpol - Building on Thursday afternoon. * The meeting was opened by the v president who asked for the reports • of the chairmen of the Hospitality, ^ the Program and Legislation Commit- - ^The treasurer reported having $402 « on hand. HALLOWE'EN AT THE CONVENTION HALL - ( There have been but few anniver- s sarie* of Hallowe'en that have-passed . to equal the enjoyment the people of j Cape May had on the 31st of October. , The Masque Ball given by the Monu- ; ment Committee for the benefit of the Monunment fund was a success in > every way. The hall was decorated with appropriate Hallowe'en decora- , tions. About 9 p. Jri- the hail was well | filled/ by the .young and old, the costumes were varied, no two alike- The grand march started at 9:30 and the hall was so full that standing room was at a premium- The judges consisted of Mrs. L. 'Richardson? Mrs. W. G. Essen, Mrs. Albert Bennett, Harry Hand and Mr. Tizzard. they awarded prizes to Miss Martha Teal, Louis - Nelson, James Giles, the latter »two ; the Zulu girls- i i There was an abtindance of sweet , cider and ginger cakes. Every one had; I their fill. Mr- Ranald Quidort acted as leader of the oifcbestra and floor manager and deserves credit for the I able manner in which the dancm- was. i conducted- _ ,. I It is safe to say that Cape May never had a more pleasant and en- ' joVable Hallowe'en and every one; , i gave their opinion to that effect. ACCIDEN TO SCHOOL CHILD I Last Friday, a more or less serious accident- occurred at the public school when at dismissal time for the morn- - at 1 1 -30, Albert Reynolds, a pimil of the kindergarten was struck by an automobile. The accident occurred 1 when the Reynolds boy started to 1 cross the street in front of the High ' School, to meet hi smother, Mr John ■ i Spehcer the local newsdfoler, was 1 I driving ast on Washington street at a ■ moderate rote «f speed and a taxicab 1 also traveling eas? endeavored to pass I ; Mr.. Spencer, drove to the left and ' struck the boy who saw the Spencer " oar but not the taxicab. The ehjld - was knocked down and the forewhee! of the car passed over his shoulder. ' He was rushed to a doctor who rens ijered first aid and at this time the ' child is greatly improved. It was fortunatp the accident was not more t serious. - , _ . . , _ ' ' , Since the accident the Chief of Po1 lice has stationed a man at the school r at dismissal time to regulate the traf6 fic so as to avoid further, accidents. . HALLOWE'EN PARTY One of the most successful masquerade parties held here on Tuesday . that of Miss Sara -Hughes. [ daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. Hughes, of this city. A large number of the school children were in attendance: somfe wearing a fancy costume and others gro- ' tesquely masked, which caused much laughter and delight among the guests and added greatly to the after . noon's pleasure.
