Blackout Test Successful In Coastal Areas (Continued from P*Jre Onel person leaves the premises every night unless an outside switch 5 * already installed for the use the air raid wardens, police or police reservists. This order ap-
plies now."
Cape May air raid wardens were at a meeting at the high school, completing the final session of their first aid course, when the first alert, a yellow signal from Atlantic City district headquarters, came through. The group dispersed immediately and wardens rushed to their respective posts to be ready for the blackout signal. Within a few minutes zone and sector wardens were notified by telephone . that the blue signal had come through, - and shortly after that the red signal was received which sounded the alarm for the blackout. Scant' minutes after the blackout signal had been sounded, every post in this area was manned by civilian defense council workers who instituted patrols. First aid course graduates, recently assigned to various stations throughout the area, were on duty during the blackout. Monday night’s murky blackness provided a perfect setting for the blackout test. The first test several weeks ago was not as impressive because of the bright moonlight, but during this week’s test even the moon and stars were blacked out, and only navigation lights along the coast anjl inland waterways remained
burning.
