With temperatures on the way up, salt water anglers look for large schools of weaka, croakers and seabass to arrive within a
few days.
Director Percy H. Jackson, in charge of the seventh annual Cape May County fishing contest, made the observation today after conferring with veteran fishermen along the Delaware Bay and shore areas. Observers who have studied salt water fishing agree that anglers’ best success comes when the water temperature is above 60 degrees. Cape May County water temperature is considerably above that level, Jackson said. Fishing continued good all during the week, with large catches of porgies and flounders brought by party boats. Carl Schmidt, of 5513 Paschall avenue, Philadelphia, won the weekly award when he hooked a six pound tautog that measured 20 inches in Hereford Inlet at
Anglesea.
