Red Cross Asks Help To Meet Sewing Quotas The Production Department of the Cape May Branch, American Bed Croes, located at 323 Decatur street, is in need of women who can sew on sewing machines to make clothing for the branch’s emergency closet. The rooms are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday of each week. “Officials in charge will greatly appreciate any assistance. Layettes, women’s and children's ■lips and nightgowns, men’s and boys’ shorts and pajamas and pillow cases arc among the articles of clothing being made, they added. Much men's second hand clothing, including wool suits, shirts, and socks, has been donated for the closet. A gift of $25 to Mrs. H. B. M.edeary, chairman of Volunteer Special Services, has made posgjble the purchase of two dozen new sweatshirts for the closet. Men’s shoes are needed, and men’s shirts in good condition in the larger sizes would be appreciated. "‘If you want to make surgical dressings, please go to the office of Volunteer Sevices on the second floor of the headquarters and Sign up for the work,” productkm officers said. All women who make surgical dressings must provide themselves with a coverall apron, such as, a Hoover, and a piece of white lawn or other material with which to completely cover the hair. No Jewelry except wedding ring and watch shall be worn. These regulations are set by the National Society and must be strictly* enforced. The first quota assigned to the Cape May branch is 1,200 gauze sponges, four by eight inches, and materials for further large assignments have already been shipped. With the nation at war millions of dressings are needed, branch officers pointed out. Cape Theatre Review By the Observer “Apron Strings”, the final show of the 1942 season at the Cape Theatre, opened Tuesday evening to a highly amused audience. This was the thirteenth production of k summer that may be considered ’•ery successful in view of the difficulties of dim-outs and so on. The cast was as follows: John Olwell, Philip Earle; Hester, G. June Wilgus; Mrs. Olwell, Frederica Going; Inez Wakefield, Connie Dilks; Barbara Olwell, Florence McGee; Daniel Curtis, MacGregor Gibb; Ezra Hunniwell, W. James Bedell. In the leading roles, which were brilliantly handled, were Florence McG.ee and MacGregor Gibb. Ably supporting them were Philip Earle, W. James Bedell, Frederica Going, .and Connie Dilks, while Mias Wilgus was very amusing as the maid. On Monday evening the juniors gave as their final, production of the year that fine mystery show “Ladies In Retirement”, with the honors in a splendid performance pretty well shared by Edward Hunt, Connie Dilks, Nancy Williams, G. June Wilgus, Jinny La Salle, Marillyn Lush' and Jean Weyi.
