Plan Reorganization Of Cape Golf Club Cape May -Golf Club, one of the oldest resort clubs in the cast, will be closed for the winter immediately after Labor Day, the city commission announced Friday. Stressing that it does not plan to abandon the club but merely to pare maintenance costs to the minimum during the off-season, the commission indicated that it would attempt to reorganize and revive the golf club prior to next season. Its membership constantly dwindling, patronage decreasing and its officers resigning their positions in the dub, the golf club this season -has run far behind the normal average revenues. Discussing the problem Friday, the commission decided to close the club immediately after Labor Day, reduce the maintenance staff to an absolute minimum and to begin reorganization of the club. With the club deficit mounting and play only a fraction of what it once was, the commissioners said they could not be justified in spending more money to meet the deficit unless the club was reorganized and put on a new basis. During the fall the greens will be maintained in order to’ preserve them, but most other maintenance work will be discontinued. The course will be open to anyone desiring to play even though the club will be officially closed, the officials said.
