Stockham has closed her summer cottage at 15 Jefferson street where she has spent the summer, and has returned to Baltimore. Md., her winter home. S. M. Griscom and his family who have occupied their Beach avenue cottage for a long season, returned this week to their home at Kcnnett Square, Pa. Mrs. J. D. Collet has returned to her home in Washington. D. C. from 104 Howard street, where she spent the summer. G. W. Okerson and his family have moved to Norfolk, Va. from 1600 New Jersey avenpe. A. Morris Herkncss i family, of Rydal, Pa., regular summer residents of this resort, have dosed their cottage on New York avenue, where they have been visiting, and have returned Mrs. Owen Ix^wis, of Philadelphia, is enjoying a late stay in Cape May at Oil Beach avenue. Methodists To Open Conclave At Ocean City The fourth session of the New Jersey Annual Conference of the Methodist Church will be held in the First Methodist Church of Ocean City, starting today and continuing through Sunday. Dr. G. Bromley Oxnam will be the Presiding Bishop, and Dr. Ernest G. Richardson will be the Residing Bishop. Assistant district superintendents will include Corbin Brady, New Brunswick District; W. Holland Raver, Trenton District; Albert L. Baner, Camden District; Charles D. Whitton, Bridgeton District. The Rev. Benjamin F. Allgood, pastor of the Ocean City church, will be the Conference host. Today’s session of the Conference will open at 3 p.m. with the call of the Conference followed by the Conference Communion Scr-
ee.
A memorial service will be held with the Rev. S. Monroe Van Sant presiding. There will be a roll call of the deceased by the Conference Secretary. Hymn singing will be followed by prayer by the Rev. Harry F. Henry. The memorial address will „ ven by the Rev. W. J. Sayre, after which the hymn, “Hark, Hark, My Soul” will be followed by the benediction. Following a banquet at Hogate's restaurant, there will be a roll call and the organization ! of the Conference with the report of the Commission on Evangelism and business and announcements. Friday’s program opens with devotion led by Bishop Oxnam, followed by a report of the Commission on World. Service and Finance. A report of the Commission on Social Service; Conference Claimants Anniversary ^ and other business will conclude the morning program. MAN ARRESTED ON ASSAULT CHARGE Charles R. Hunt, colored, of 725 Osborne street, was arrested by Officer Ellsworth Major, of the Cape May police force, on a warrant charging him with assault and battery on a West Cape Maywoman. Complainant in the case was Mabel Smith, , colored, of
West Cape May.
The case, which was taken before Police Magistrate Edward P. Nittingcr in the local police court, was continued due to lack of proper witnesses when the case
was opened.
