Schafer At Training Station In Misanuri JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MO. —Having completed a six-weeks course at the physical instructors’ school of the Army Air Forces at Miami Beach. Fla., Sergeant Georg«i H. Schafer, of Lansdowne, Pa., son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Schafer, of Cape May, ha$ arrived at the Army Air Forces Basic Training" Center, Jefferson Barracks, where he has assumed the duties of drill instructor and physical Instructor for the 39th School Squadron. Sergeant Schafer was inducted last July at New Cumberland, Pa. and received his basic training at Atlantic City before leaving for the non-commissioned officers' school at Miami Beach. A graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, he majored in physical education and later served as physical director and coach at Bartlett Junior High School in Philadelphia. His wife, Mrs'. Dorothy F. Schafer, resides in Lansdowne.

Navy Day Creator Dies GREENWICH, CONN. — Mrs. William H. Hamilton, at whose suggestion Navy Day was established, died here on Saturday, October 10. She was 76. Founder of the National Navy Club in 1917, an organization similar to that of the USO for enlisted Navy men, Mrs. Hamilton suggested to Theodore Roosevelt, son of the President and at the time Assistant Secretary of the Navy, that a day be set aside in honor of his father’s birthday.

County Fan Board Plant Big Meeting COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Board of Agriculture will hold its annual meeting during the early part of December, it was announced this week, as preliminary plans for the annual session were started. It is planned to have an all-day business session followed by a dinner and entertainment in the evening. A committee consisting of A. S. Walker, Allan McClain, Edward Phillips and Newton Schellinger, was appointed to make complete plans for the event. During the business session it is expected to allow ample time for local farmers to discuss the problems anticipated in producing “Food for Freedom" during 1943. Bankers, farm supply dealers and other business men will be invited to attend the session. A special speaker will be scheduled at the noon luncheon. It fa expected that the evening period will attract a large crowd rural residents. CAPE MAY VS. MIDDLE SATURDAY AFTERNOON Postponed because of inclement weather, the football game between Cape May High School and Middle Township High School, scheduled for last Saturday, will be played at Wildwood on Saturday. The game fa scheduled to start at 2:80. The contest between the two county teams is expected to be a highlight of the local gridiron season, with the Stegermen seeking revenge for a 14-12 defeat they suffered two weeks ago at the hands of the Middle team.
