Cape May And Ocean City In 0-0 Tie Cape May and Ocean City high school football teams played a scoreless tie Saturday afternoon at Ocean City. The Capers had what looked like a touchdown three minutes after the contest started when Rutherford passed to Williams who ran out of the end rone in making the catch. The score was nullified. The game was waged evenly until the last five minutes when the Cape May lads drove from their 40-yard line to Ocean City’s nine on a series of runs and E asses. A fumble caused by a ad pass from center ended the drive as Ocean City recovered. Rutherford’s runs were outstanding for Cape May, while Sundstrum contributed a good share of gain for Ocean City. Cape May’s next game will be with Salem High School here Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Storekeepers Lead Navy Rowlers The Storekeepers’ bowling team rolled the highest score in the Naval Base bowling league competition at the Cape Recreation Center alleys Tuesday night, piling up a total of 1,925 for three games. The Storekeepers also led the league Tuesday night with the highest score for a single game, 676. Biddle, of the Public Works team, was high man for the evening with 211. Meatless Tuesdays Urged In Jersey TRENTON — Governor Edison this week called upon restaurants, hotels, dining cars and other public eating places in New Jersey not to serve meat Tuesdays and to feature meatless dishes. Housewives were urged to follow the plan in their homes. In a proclamation, the Governor pointed out the Food Requirements Committee of the War Production Board has requested that the consumption of beef, pork, veal and lamb by civilians over 12 years of age be limited to 'Two and one-half pounds per week. Similar plans have been attempted in other nearby states as part of the war emergency program. Nationwide meat rationing is expected to become effective about

New Jersey Gentlemen: v m An audit of the financial accounts and transactions of the Borough of North Cape May In the County of Cape May for the year ending December 31. 1941. has recently been completed. The results of the audit are herewith set forth. The comments pertaining to the audit are shown. Insofar as Is practicable under the following headings: Scope of Audit Condition of Records A Conduct of Offices Condition of Finances General comments Recommendations Certification Roster of Officials for Period Under Audit The several statements, schedules, and analyses showing the financial condition of the various accounts are set forth in the following order: Current Capital An Index of the statements, schedules and analyses Is shown Immediately preceding the current balance sheet. SCOPE OF AUDIT The audit covered the financial transactions of the Collector-Treasurer, the activities'of the Mayor and Council and the records of the Clerk. The audit did not and could not determine the character of services rendered for which payment had been made or for which reserves had been set up nor could It determine the character or quantity of materials supplied for which claims had been passed. These details were necessarily covered by the approvals on such claims. Revenues and receipts were established and verified as to source and amount only insofar as the local records permitted. RECOMMENDATIONS That greater care be exercised In the recording of receipts and disbursements and the transferring of taxes to tax title Hens. That tax sales be held In strict accordance with the statutes. ' That the Treasurer reconcile cash monthly. That greater care be exercised In expenditures so as to avoid the posslbllty of overexpenditure. That the Clerk sign all the mlnaSes. That an approved type tax duplicate bo obtained for 1943. That all notes be Issued in accordance with the statutes. That all deferred charges be covered by budget appropriation. That interest be collected In strict accordance with the statutes. That a resume of this audit be published as prescribed. That the provisions of R. S. 64:4-91, 64:4-92, 64:4-93. and 64:4-94 be complied with. i That all officials handling funds be bonded In an amount commensurate wltli the amounts handled. That a plan of Foreclosures and Sales be adopted Immediately. That subsequent budgets Include adequate appropriations for foreclosures. That all salary vouchers of officials set forth the period for which payment Is claimed. That all unallocated receipts be Investigated for proper application. That all overpayments be Investigated and all items not subject to refund transferred to surplus by proper resolution. That the capital notes and the Interest thereon be paid Immediately.
