Three of the squad members are already in the service of Uncle Sam. They are co-captain Robert Lehman, T. Lee Lemmon and Alfred Vanaman. The boys enlisted for duty recently. High School’s basketball team d its 1942-43 season Friday Local fans were given a nly contested game for their first battle of the season. The •adhoolboys came out on top in the varsity game with a 37-31

score.

The first onarter found a nip asd tack affair with the Blue and Black ahead »-7. At half time, the youngsters increased their lead to 10-11. Here the lads from the little red school house put on a spurt as the half ended to gather a substantial lead. It was 'only in the final quarter when things began to pop as the Coast Guards put on a spurt of their own to outscore the Blue and Black 11-8 points. The Coast Guards were hampered by the loss of Stringer, stringy center who was banished by personal

fouls.

Parinello and Cooper were the high point gainers for the Blue

and Black.

In a preliminary game, the Coast Guard Jayvees won by a 20-16 score in a spirited contest Marlowe was high gun in the melee while Mathews held up the

school team.

In the curtain raiser, a Freshman team made it tough rledding tor the Sophomores who barely managed to eke a victory in the
