Waste fats are Heeded to make a glycerine base for explosives. All bacon' grease, frying fats and meat drippings should be strained and poured into a one-pound widemouthed tin container and kept ii •-cool place until disposed of. D< not put fats in a glass container or paper bag. Butchers and “meat dealers will purchase the waste fats at the market price. SCRAP METAL All metals, such as iron, steel, copper, brass, bronze, zinc,- etc., are needed. These will be collected r local salvage committee, them that you have metal and that you want it collected. Or sell it to a junk dealer. BAGS, RUBBER, ROPE Old fabrics arc being salvaged to make sand bags for use byAmerican soldiers. Rubber needs are still critical. The government will shortly call for old rope and hemp to be used ifi making new rope. Our hemp supply, which came from the Philippines, has been completely cut off. MISS CARRIE DbUGLASS Miss Carrie Douglass, a well known resident of Cape May, died on Thursday, January 28, at 800 Washington street, where she had been 111 for more than a year. She was 71. Miss Douglass was born South Dennis, the daughter of Eleazer and Josephine Allen Douglass. At the age of 16 she came to Cape May to make her home with Mrs. O. L. W. Knerr, and had served as saleslady in Che Knerr dry goods store until the last year. Death followed 13 days after the death of. Mrs.
Knerr.
Funeral services were held .at the Hollings^iti Funeral Sunday afternoon, with U Samuel Blair, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Edward Graham, a former pastor of the local church, now of Wildwood. Miss Douglass, known to All her friends as ‘‘Miss Carrie", was active for many years in church work in the community.
