EXTRA WEEK FOR COUNTY SCRAP DRIVE
Bad Weather On Monday Extends Scrap Harvest Because snow fell on Monday, scrap collection day. chairmen of local salvage committee in each of the four townships and Woodbine have agreed to make another collection next Monday, March 29. If the day is stormy, the collection will be made the first clear day. All residents of inland sections of the county who have old iron, steel or other metal, rubber, burlap bags. rope, newspapers or magazines (the last .two items must lx- securely tied) arc asked to place all such articles along the street or roadside in front of their property early Monday morning so that it may be easily seen by the municipal road truck driver. Those who find it impossible or inconvenient to haul their scrap materials to the roadside should contact their local salvage chairman or either of the following, before Monday: Henry H. White, member of the county salvage committee in charge of farm scrap (fell phone. 5-3111; Keystone. 411) or Burton J. Smith, county salvage chairman (Bell -5-3001 or 5-6291; Keystone 231). Those wanting to get their scrap into channels which will help prosecute the war but preferring to sell rather than donate it are asked to contact a junk dealer. If asked to do so. White or Smith will request junk dealers to call upon such persons and submit offers. Committees of subordinate Granges and Pomona Grange contacted many farmers throughout the county -in last week's Scrap Harvest, calling their attention to the vital need for scrap metal, rubber and other items and asking them to take steps immediately to start it on the way to the fighting front. School pupils and 4-H members cooperated in some places.
