Schoolboys Win Over Navy Nine In Game Monday Cape May High School’s baseball played a practice gam* with'the Naval Air- Station boys on'Monday. The schoolboys won easily by ah 8-3 score. The Blue and Black team collected 10 hits from the Navy* three pitchers. Taylor pitched effectively, scattering three hits and fanning seven men. Naval Air is in the process of weeding out its material and the game gave an opportunity to look over the available supply. They were handicapped fromthe atart as a batted ball struck their catcher Dykes in the eye. causing his, removal from tne ^Oslan. Patkin and Rush were the Navy twirlers, and all showed much promise of rounding out into excellent form. Murphy docked good in the outfield and Feeney did fine work on first base Williams, Mathews and Taylor each collected two hits for the school team. SAVE FATS, STOP JAPS. County Athletes Win Honors In Meet . Only two Cape May County boys were entered in the South Jersey track championships at Collingswood last Saturday. Coach Clark, of Middle, had his star in the weights, Roberson, entered in the shotput and discus. Cape May's entrant was George Purnell, holder of the state’s Group 1 Scholastic high jump record. Purnell again demonstrated his ability when' he established a South Jersey Group,I record with a six foot, one-eighth inch leap. This gave him the gold medal in .the event. He went on to win a third in the hundred yard dash and tied for third place in the running broad jump.
Two Homers Fail To Win For Cape May Cape May High School’s baseball team returned home oh the short end of a 13-6 score as Pleasantville landed a batch of runs in two bad innings for the Capers on Tuesday. Cape May made two in third when Williams' home run smash sdnt Mariani in ahead of him. Two more runs were made
in the fifth when Bailey sent two in with a well- placed hit. McPherson hit a home run in the sixth for the fifth run.
