Newton Team Is Victor In Pin Match Saturday The record-break in* Coal Co. bowling team, of Philadelphia, gave a display of howling -kill and trimmed a flashy Cape May team in an exhibition match at the Cape Recreation ' Center Saturday night. Pinal scores for the three-game match were 2^78 to 2.621 in favor of the Newton team, which led the locals by 252 pins. High man for the Philadelphia bowlers, who were brought to Cane May by Charles A. Johnson, president of the Newton C«fl Co. snd a well known Cape May cottager, was Susick, an outstanding bowler in the Philadelphia leagues. Harris Teas Wias Bowling Match In’ a nip-and-tuek five-game match, which featured a 60,000 to one shot by Joe Settle, captain of the losing team. Herb Harris' bowlers won s 68-pin victory Mondsy night at the Cape Recreation Crater. The Harris pin men amassed a total of 4,143 pins daring the five games against the Settle team's 4.080, although the Settle aggregation was ahead by three pins at the end of the fourth

game.

Highlight of the match was a shot by Settle which made the 7-10 split, conceded to carry odds - one in 50,000. The Harris team consisted of Earl Hollingsead, William Baldwin, Dan Ricker, Steve Steger and Herb Harris. Settle’s team wa? composed of “Pick” Learning, Settle, Prank Underkoffler, Charles Shields and Jack Cresse.

Grade Schools Have Track Meet Today A grammar school track meet will be held at Seaview Park at 3:30 this afternoon with teams from the Lafayette Street School and the Franklin Street School competing for honors. Events will include: Class A, boys over 110 pounds, 60, 76, 100, 220 yard dash, 12 pound shot put, ruiming high jump, running broad jump, pole vault, and a relay for four boys with one-half lap each. Class B, hoys under 110 pounds, 50, 60, 75, 100 yard dash, eight pound shot put, running high jump, running broad jump, pole vault, relay, four boys, one-half

lap each.

The weight divisions make for better competition, Coach Steven J. Steger, who will direct the event, explained.

Two More Gams On Baseball Schedule With two home games scheduled, the Cape May High School baseball team will close its v season on June 1. Friday the Blue and Black entertains the Rio Grande Naval Air Station team. This will be the second game between the two teams. The high school w first with ah 8-4 score. . On Tuesday, June 1, the Capers will close the season when entertain PleaaantviDe School's squad. The homesters are out to even a past defeat hung them at Pleasantville recently.

Fishing Pier Opens Cape May's municipal fishing pier, jutting into the ocean from the end of Convention Hall pier, opened for the season last weekend, when a siteable crowd of anglers made fair catches of esrly season fish. Principal catches were flounders. During the current week, numerous fish have been caught from the pier. Boy Scouts May Form 4-H Club Willard G. Patton, district 4-H Club agent, met with the Cape May Boy Scouts at the Kiwanis clubhouse at a recent meeting to explain a cooperative 4-H - Scout program. There was considerable interest shown and several boys have enrolled in 4-H projects. The Club Agent visited the Erma 4-H Club, led by James Lykins recently and checked on projects already under way. David McPherson, president of the club, now owns a pure-bred registered Du roc Jersey boar. A new 4-H Club was organized in Go»hen under the leadership of Carl Anderson. Jack Anderson was elected president and Harry Shaw secretary. The club plans to meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the homes of members. Another new 4-H Gub was ganired in Petersburg under the leadership of Hollis Caldwell. Wardell Higbee is president and Betty Mason secretary. They plan to meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month at

The 4-H Victory Garden Gub Woodbine, led by Allen Wodlinger, elected Donald Govin president and Sy dney A sees secretory. They meet the first and third Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Local 4-H leaders have recently received lists of county, state and national contests in which 4-H Gub members may participate. Many very attractive prizes are offered. A new award this year for farm and home safety is being offered by the Menaen Co. The Eldora Club has entered. There are prizes for both dubs and individuals.
