T. C. Upham, the director, for his fifth season is beginning with the eery best plsy available, “Claudia," and with a cast that could hardly be surpassed, since be has engaged two principals who have been playing this comedy for an entire theatrical year throughout the United States and is bringing .! ‘ their run which ended two weeks ago in Newark. These well known actors are Mabel Taliaferro, who will play Mr*. Brown, the mother, and Elaine Ellis, who will be Claudia. Mi— Taliaferro is the nationally famous star who caught the attention of theatregoers everywhere in her attractive starring part in "Polly of the Circus.” . And Mias Ellis is already recognised at one of the best of the ingenues in America. Mr. Upham, the director, completes the cast unless replaced by one of the new men soon to join the company. W. “Housewives will be contributing to the war effort materially by -doing home canning especially st periods when fresh fruits and vegetables are available in the greatest quantities,” Mullen said. • “Canning at such peak periods of production will result in U>e conservation of large quantities of these perishable foods that otherwise might be wasted. At this time, too, better buys will be available to consumeis. Housewives also will find their shopping under point rationing to be simpler next winter if' they have home canned food with which to supplement .their daily menus.” Because millions of women i planning to do home canning for the first time this summer and other millions plan to increase their canning, both governmental and food industry agencies have been flooded with requests for information this spring. TO CARRY THE GREATEST NUMBER BETWEEN SEASHORE POINTS AND PHILADELPHIA IN THE AVAILABLE CARS
Trains that formerly ran via the "Bridge Route’’ to and from Broad Street Station, Philadelphia, will operate via Market Street Wharf Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays, June 20 to September 6
In order to carry the greatest number between Seashore Resorts and Philadelphia in the available cars, We are eliminating 7 Saturday, Sunday and Holiday Bridge Trains to and from Broad Street Station, and diverting that equipment to operate to and from Camden Terminal, in conjunction with Market Street Wharf Petty Service. The available cars .and locomotives can perform approximately one-third more service when operating to and from Camden be-
cause that route is 10 miles shorter and nearly a half-hour quicker in each direction than the "Bridge Route” to and from Broad Street Station. This way, we will accommodate more people going to and from Philadelphia on the days of heaviest traveL From Monday to Friday, trains running between Seashore points and Philadelphia will operate via the "Bridge Route” as usual
