In the latter capacity he has had heavy responsibilities relative to gasoline rationing for, farmers, special loans to farmers, deferments from Selective Service, machinery rationing, permits to slaughter meat, lumber priorities and other related tasks. In the past he has served on several county fsir committees, has been master of Pomona Grange and president of the Cape May County Board of Agriculture. He has been a member of the executive committee of the Board of Agriculture for 17 years and was a founder of the Vineland Egg Auction and a director of that group for several'years. ,He has also been a director of the Cape May County Farmers' Cooperative Association at Woodbine since that enterprise was started. Mr. Walker is married and one daughter. Son of an Episcopal minister and with several brothers and sisters prominent in Episcopal church and missionary work in this country, Canada ^8nd China, Mr. Walker has been a prominent lay leader at the Church of the Advent, Cape May. An enthusiastic tennis and golf player, he has been an officer of the Cape May Golf Club and is row serving as president of the organization.

PATH RESIGNS COURT HOUSE—Marcus A. Path, of Wildwood, last week resigned as Cape May County’s deputy sheriff in order to take over the restaurant business of his son, William, who recently entered the armed forces. Sheriff F. Mulford Stevens said he was undecided whether or not a successor would be appointed. Stevens' term expires in November after the election of a successor in the general election.

Mrs. John W. Lord, Jr., of Philadelphia, defeated Mrs. Owen Lewis, of Alliance, Ohio, 6-4, 6 - 0 in the finals of the women's tennis singles at the Cape May Country Club Monday afternoon. " Lord, defending champion, the title again this year in a field of 18 entrants. The men's singles are still in progress. Lieutenant C. Higgins, stationed in Cape May, is one of the finalists, having beaten D. S. Sullivan 6 - 4, 6 - 2. The mixed doubles, men's snd women’s doubles will start this Saturday. In the junior tennis round robin tournament Betty Jaquetl won the girls' play. Katherine Havens as second and Sue Foote third. Drew Foote won the boys' play with Kenny Smith second and Donnie Gibson third. Mary Skinner and Lenore Zug are chairmen of the junior round robin.
