The riparian commission has established an exterior line on the ■ bay front which. When thus % is accomplished there will bean immense surface available for building purposes, and the North Point is likely to absorb much of the attention of speculative buyers and cottagers who find their pleasure on Great Egg Harlior bay. There is a demand at this time for hotel acco^nmo dations on the lay front and an opening is awaiting some host whb will ! cater chiefly to the yachting enthusiast and the lover of rod and gun. Spring Elections Abolished. ^ By legislative enac|pent during the recent session of the State legislature the ihunlripal elections in all cities, hitherto held in either Match or April, have been abolished and in the future city officials will Ire balloted for in November on the same day and U|>on the same ' tickets as the county. B' achieved through the desire of Republican politicians to strengthen E lbe party in localities where reform movements often resulted in the election of Democratic candidalcs^aud to enable machines to retain or regain a hold on municipal offices. So far as surface indications show h the drift of public opinion the measure is not popular with a larg.- per ■ centagv of the voters of the various cities and disaster to Republican S’ candidates is freely prophesied when the people get a chance to vo B their will. In so far as t ic new law reduces the number of elections ■ fault can lie found, but the main objection lies in the fact that. B combining local with State and county elections, there is too much B danger of a perpetuation of dishonest ring rule and therefore a departB ore from the business-like conduct of municipal affairs.

DRIFTING SAND. Many property owners who take, great pride in keeping their lawns and lots neatly grassed and flowered have all their work in that direc- : tion rendered useless by drifting sand which is blown from other unprotected lots by the severe winds of the wtinter and early spring. Lot I owners, who fail to take such measures as are necessary to hold their own property, should he held liable for damage inflicted on their ’ neighbors. It is a distinct damage to have one's lawn covered a foot deep with Jhc.sand which is left uncovered and at the whim of every wind that Some conspicuous examples of this are to be seen at the North Point, where, in more than one instance, the sand has drifted so as o ■ cover the fences surronnding improved property.

Thus the pack of cards serves as a Bible, a prayer book and an almanac. *
