The couccrts are heiug very well atleuded, a» they should have been all fttimmer. It seemed to he a foregone conclusion that VeeecJIa himself would prove to be a drawlDg card, and he ha* demonstrated this. He has a wonderfully good band. It might be said also that he sent to this city probably the best orcboalra ever heard in this city— iutlnltely bet* ter. In the opinion of many music lovers, than the so-called Philadelphia Orchestra members at least one sea eon— but It was not patronized, which looks as though, on the whole, the people waut band music rather than music by au orchestra. To be sure, It tsTecognlzed that there was a] strong determination on the part of a large number of cottagers and visitors to knock out— to give a death-blow— t» the city authorities' efforts to make I those who desire concerts pay to hear I these, and that to the efforts of these! cottagers Is due the miserable turnout at all the concerts by the orches- 1 tra. However, the mayor, lu face of all I these obstacles, told his audiences on I several occasions that the plans in force, which were endorsed by members of the Board of Trade, would scarcely be changed this year, and the people apparently have come to a realization of conditions. i TAI,K OVER GAS

Clijr Officials Receive More Com* plaluta of Poor Service. Director Fisher, at the meeting of the City Commissioners, again called up the matter of numerous complaints regarding the local Gas Company's service in South Ocean City. He spoke against the city paying for gas that it does not geL Mayor Champion suggested that hel and Mr, Fisher take a trip down to I South Ocean City before th% board! takes action. I Director Fisher stated that the public comfort station was severely sand- 1 ed during the recent storms and some- ] thing of » radical natyre will have to I be done to remedy conditions there. | Mr. Fisher also referred ngaln to the | leaky condition of the roof of the music pavilion and said that something will soon have to be done. He recommended that the remaining blocks be taken op and replaced with sbeei asphalt roadway. Director Campbell wanted to know where the money would come from i for this work. , Mayor Champion said that it looks as though the whole block needs replacing and that the asphalt would make a better street In the regular order of business.
