DR. HAWK KEEPS CHAMPIONSHIP South Tersey Tennis Tournament Most Successful Ever Held Here. The best of the Bouth Jersey Championship teuuis touruameuls ever held ou the courts of the Ocean City Yacht Club ended late Baturday evening. All of the mutches lu Ihe afternoons throughout the week, beginning with the previous Baturday, drew large crowds of enthusiasts, who watched the games with tuterest aud were quick to applaud the good plays. Thomas M. tfcolt, chairman of "the yacht club's tournament committee, worked bard to make the tournament a success, aud the results amply rewarded his edorts. A feature of the tournament were the two or three dauces given at the club house, aud which were fully euJoyed by the young people. People who do not understand the game do not nppreciate the skill and endurance required of the players. It Is a real game and oue that Is truly enjoyed by its followers. The entries lu the touruameut this year were of a higher class lhau heretofore, aud the contestants came from many aecUous of the East. The players Included Dornhelm and Morgau, both protegee of Tlldeu aud young men of much promise. Iuterest lu the closing matches Baturday afternoon centered In the men's finals for the championship, In which !)r P. B. Hawk, of Jefferson College stall', defended his title sgalust Arthur L. Trade Board Wants Fast Train Up in Morning and Down in Afternoon. K. W. Edwards, at the meeting of Board of Trade Tuesday evening, «poke of complaint* from cottagers regarding the action of the Reading Railroad Company In taking off the •5 30 afternoon train from Philadelphia to Ocean City. Mr. Edwards said thai this trsln has been running full aud be wanted know whether the compauy could npt be persuaded to keep the train on until It was practically demonstrated thai it did not pay. W. E. MftNoey, of the board's transportation committee, staled that he had seen Mr. Wcek'a acsibtaut that afternoon, Mr. Weeks not being lo bis ofilce, and was told that the company compelled to drop this train at this time, because of the necessity of taking care of tucreaaed traffic to Clementou aud other place« In that section of the State, these people deciding to use the railroad cars instead of trolleys because of tbe increased rate of fare on the trolley*. It was decided by tbe board to send a letter to tbe regional director requesting that the early morning express from Ocean City to Philadelphia aud the 4.40 afternoon express to City be continued as long as possible.
