FIREMEN ANGRY OYER POOR JOKE I They Were Called to Business! Section at Midnight on False Alarm. There was considerable Indignation among many residents of this ciiy on Thursday uiorulng m* they talked over the false alarm of fire shortly before 12 o'clock the night before, Tbt alarm came from Eighth street aud Asbury avenue, the center of the business section of the city. The alarm of fire, fallowing the tiring uf pistols, caused some people to think Lhat tbe police were having a battle with burglars, and nervous women aud children were nearly throw u into hysterics. Fire Ciller Watson aud the meu of the department, beside the volunteer firemen called hurriedly from their beds by the clanging bell*, were decidedly angry wbeti they found that the alarm was false. A small bonfire had beeu started near the corner of Eighth street and Asbury avenue, but t lie firemen declared that there was no occaslou to call them out. They failed to appre elate the "joke."
