People Are More Descriminating Put your properties into good condition. Do a little painting. If the walls are badly soiled, paper them. People that come to Ocean City nowadays demand a clean modernly furniihed and comfortable abode. Don't put your antiques in a summer place to rent. People don't want tliem. They like everything that will tend to lessen work, the fewer the heavy carpets and rugs, pictures and nicknacks the better. We have to look to Mr. Rowland again who established a precedent in furnishing and equipping places for summer renting. The result — the largest rents % in the city and a constant demand for his places. We REALTORS know the objections mostly made and the things that make good impressions. If you will follow a few suggestions they will pay good returns. Varnish your floors every year. Put up some white sash curtains to the windows. Cretonne draperies pve a striking effect to the room. The condition of the refrigerator comes in for more criticism and scrutiny than any other one thing. If you have an old unclean looking refrigerator in your place, don't jeopardize tne renting of your property any longer; get rid of it The gas stove runs a close second. Many places are passed up because the gas stove looks dilapidated and rusty. Stoves should be thoroughly cleaned when tenants leave and greased; this will keep them from rusting during the winter. Beds are also important, likewise the mattresses. Old wooden beds and soiled mattresses haven't much of an appeal to people who spend one-third of their time in their midst We say the kind of people now spending their summers in Ocean City are more discriminating. This is absolutely so. They are paying good rental prices and demand the proper comforts they are accustomed to at home. If you want to know what is needed to bring your property np to the present standard we will be glad to make an investigation and advise you.
