I'erala saw the earliest development of the perfume Industry. The priests In Egypt, who were the sole depositories of science, knew the secret of aromatic substances aud prepared them. During banquets they were diffused through the halls 55,,' were burned In profusion. Tfcc Israel ■ tnrtt Ogrtng lher •ofcurn in Egypt adopted the aromatic sub- I stances primarily for religious purposes and afterward for personal usage. The Jews were fond of cosmetics. and even used them to point the face. All those perfutuee were ex traded from essence of trees and van ona plants. Great American Historian. Ocean City Fishing Club Wants Municipal Surf Casting Field
Making Preparations for Visit of British Team to I Contest for Cup The Ocean Cit*. Pi»hJng Club haappointed a committer to call upon Miiwir Champion and the (' i> iaI afamer* of Ocean City with a request for a suitable casting field. This request is made at this time becau-e , the club has been led to believe that a suitable urea between Fifth and j Sivth streeta, extending from the ! Reading Railroad to Hay uvei.ue, »• | now available for such a purpose. This urea could also be um-i 9* a general athletic field during' tha-e time* when ru>t occupied for a casting tournament, club member say. The Ocean City Fishing Club human y reasons for making thi- request. One reason is that two great tournament* of the A*--»ei.ition of Surf Angling Club.- are held annually b> it and the Angler*' Club of Ocean | City. These locrnumenbi bring contestants from the u**iriati"ri clubs, which extends from New York City to St. Petersburg, Florida. All the , ! other dub* also hold similar tournaments in their respective homes, but it is the de-ire of the Ocean City i club to make their home tournaments the most attractive and inter- , esting of any. Another rea-<>n liein the fact that to maintain its supremacy the club must Itave a < suitable practice ground. Sometimes « the Iteach is available, but often times it isn't. The dub's Io*- of the cup hu* been influenced by the fact that ita facilities for practice were too greatly limited.
, Another and perhaps the greate.-t reason of all is the fact that there . will soon lie u British team sent over to capture the Ocean City Cup. Tbicup has now become a classic in tiie . casting world and is a.* well kqown in England as it is in New Jersey. I It occupies the same relative position in the casting worjjLthat Ameri- , ca's cup does in the yachting world. Speaking of this proposed new field, Churchill Hungerfonl says: "When the British team comeover here to capture that cup, we want them to. come to Ocean City - and we want to receive them upon a field worthy of the cup. We don't want to take them down to an old liall ground, where we have to wranNOTICE TO LI MITCRKDITOKS RiUltofllitrlu It Baron, 1'ursiiani U> lb* oMlrr i.f Harry H. .
